The Civil Affairs Bureau of Beijing announced yesterday that the city plans to establish exclusive shops around its six major districts for the sale of disaster relief supplies for citizens.

As many as 65 selected emergency products including distress whistles and fire-proof blankets will be available in the shops from October 13. With the price ranging from one hundred to one thousand yuan, the products will be sold as four integrated relief packages.

All the disaster relief products available in the shop are mainly selected from the list of Disaster Relief Supplies Reserve for Beijing Families issued by the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau in May.

The products consist of the ten basic reserve supplies from the list like a multi-functional flashlight, a fire-proof blanket as well as a respirator mask. Many of the products are multifunctional, like the flashlight which can also generate electricity using a hand crank, be used as a radio receiver and repel mosquitoes.

In the future, hundreds of disaster relief supplies will be available in the stores. A recycling system will be established to encourage citizens to conserve the emergency products.
