China's leading big data technology developer and service provider, Baifendian Group, announced that it has received $25 million of Series C financing, and released a new strategy that focused on enterprise-oriented big data applications, on July 25.
The funds will be mainly used to improve technology, big data applications, professional recruitment and infrastructures, said Su Meng, chairman of the company.
The strategy also drew a blueprint for the development of big data in four aspects — products, business mode, professional recruitment and collective management of the corporation.
The company has three subsidiaries, including Baifendian Technology, Xinbo Technology and Qianfendian Technology. Each of them has its own focus on big data technologies and applications. Baifendian is committed to collectivized management of these businesses, since a global big data ecosystem is taking form.
Baifendian Technology specializes in big data's application on the internet, including a tailored technology innovation and data application for e-commerce companies and media. Xinbo Technology gives priority to big data applications in retailing and the O2O sector, while Qianfendian Technology focuses on R&D of basic big data platforms and provides big data solutions to enterprises in traditional industries.
The move is a milestone for companies tapping the enterprise-oriented big data applications and cloud computing platform market, Su added.
The company will also establish a scientific advisory board, which consists of economists and scientists from home and abroad to carry out training programs for big data professionals.
After five year's practice, Baifendian's big data technology and service have been widely applied in more than 1,000 enterprises from various sectors, such as e-commerce, automobile and retail.
Different from those traditional IT facilities for enterprises, such as customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP), big data is a package of solutions for data collection, storage, integration, analysis and visualization of the external and interior data of a company. It is not only a marketing tool but also explores new ways to make profits.
