Beijing received more than 252 million visits last year, a year-on-year increase of 9 percent, according to the city's tourism authority.
Total income generated by the tourism industry in the city in 2013 exceeded 396.3 billion yuan ($63.44 billion), a 9.3 percent increase on the previous year, the Beijing Tourism Development Commission said.
The Beijing Tourism Development Green Book 2014, released on Monday, says the Chinese capital is estimating a 9 percent year-on-year increase in the amount of visits and total income in 2014.
Spending on tourism, shopping and catering will comprise 25 percent of total consumption in the city, it said.
The commission said the city's tourism industry saw steady growth in 2013, especially in outbound and domestic tourism.
It is the third year in which Social Sciences Academic Press has published the book.
