Though the Chinese national football team missed its chance to compete in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil this summer, products made by enterprises in Zhongguancun Science Park have found their place in the football world.
As a provider of security equipment for the World Cup, Beijing-based company NUCTECH provided nine of the 12 World Cup football stadiums with security services and equipment including Brasilia National Stadium, the stadium used in the opening ceremony, and Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The company provided about 600 advanced pieces of powerful security equipment.
In addition to the World Cup, NUCTECH has also won bids to provide security in other areas such as ports, jails, aviation, judicial facilities, postal facilities, and large-scale games and conferences in Brazil. So far, the company has signed contracts for over 30 large-container scanners and 700 smaller-scale pieces of security equipment.
The other enterprise in Zhongguancun - Beijing Huajiang Culture Development Co - showcased nearly a hundred souvenirs by the brand Beijing Gift at a shopping mall in Rio de Janeiro. The company will continue to be a cultural ambassador for Beijing in Brazil.
