All the police stations in the city's four Railway Stations — Beijing Railway Station, Beijing South, Beijing North and Beijing West, have equipped their patrol officers with revolvers in the fight against terrorism.
Beijing’s Railway Public Security Bureau has organized professional training on correct use of firearms for these armed police at sergeant level and above.
It is not common for railway police to perform their duties with guns, and the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) police officers were the only gun-toting team when they were on duty in public places before Beijing stepped up its anti-terrorism efforts in June.

Earlier this month, the city carried out an anti-terrorism emergency drill, with the participation of police from railway stations, Beijing public security bureau and the SWAT team.
Beijing police patrolled with guns at five stations — from Xidan station to Dongdan station, on subway Line 1 from May 23.
