Beijing Royal School will see its 300-plus high school graduates admitted by overseas universities this year.
Founded in 2003 and located in Beijing's Changping district, the private school, which offers international courses from preschool through high school, prepares its high school students for study abroad.
The school said all its high school graduates have been admitted to overseas universities, and 61 percent of the students were admitted by top US universities. Another 9 percent were accepted by good universities in other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and Germany.
To share the joy of the students' satisfying admission results and celebrate their graduation from high school, the school held a commencement for the graduates on May 28.
More than 2,000 people attended the ceremony, including the students' parents and representatives of overseas universities such as the US' University of Kansas, University of California and University of Wisconsin.
School Principal Wang Guangfa flicked the tassels on each student's graduate caps from the right side to the left as a sign of their new status, and issued a graduation certificate to each of them. The students presented bouquets to the principal and their teachers to express their gratitude.
There are about 300 high school students graduating from Beijing Royal School each year.
Unlike students from public high schools, students of the school will not take part in the gaokao, or national college entrance exam. Most of them left school before June after attending the commencement, and prepared to embrace their overseas studies, which will begin this fall.
