The plenary meeting of the Organizing Committee of the China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and Beijing's leading group for preparatory work was held on May 14, 2014.
"We must promote the cooperation and development of international trade in services and speed up the transformation and upgrading of the economic structure. This year’s CIFTIS should not only be frugal, but also offer high-quality services. All departments should spare no effort to ensure a secure and stable environment for the event," Beijing Mayor Wang Anshun emphasized at the meeting.
"Since its inception, the CIFTIS has played an important role in pushing the transformation of the country, as well as Beijing. The Ministry of Commerce will work together with the capital to promote the internationalization, marketing and specialisms of the event. The CIFTIS should be a window to show China’s confidence and determination to further open up to the outside world and a high-level and grand international gathering," said Gao Hucheng,Minister of Commerce and chairman of the Organizing Committee of the CIFTIS.

This year's CIFTIS will run from May 28 to June 1. Until now, the three permanent supporting units, including the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, have confirmed their participation in the fair. Merchants and representatives from 100 countries and regions have completed their registrations for the event.
Meanwhile, a total of 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, five cities specifically designated in the state plan and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps also have confirmed their attendance.
Vice-Commerce Minister Fang Aiqing attended the meeting and made speeches. The meeting was hosted by Cheng Hong, vice-mayor of Beijing municipality and vice-chairman of the Organizing Committee of the CIFTIS.
