The 17th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) concluded in the capital on May 18, 2014.
The six-day event carried out various activities including exhibitions, promotions for projects, forums and conferences, all showcasing China’s latest achievements in scientific and technical innovation.
The event attracted 240,000 visitors from the government, IT industry and finance industry. Nearly 5,000 businessmen attended 12 project promotions. Meanwhile, a total of 256 well-known domestic and foreign experts, scholars and entrepreneurs gave speeches to 5,800 people in seven forums.
In addition, a total of 135 projects, amounting to around 88 billion yuan ($14.1 billion) were signed during the event. Contracts for emerging industries, such as energy conservation and the environmental protection industry, biological industry and new energy industry, came to 68.56 billion yuan, accounting for 77.8 percent of the total contract amount.
