Beijing's industrial upgrading is at a crucial stage and the city will accelerate the construction of a system of cutting-edge industries, said the mayor Wang Anshun, at a symposium of the 17th China Beijing International High-tech Expo in the capital city on May 13.

He emphasized the city's function orientation – a national science and technology innovation center and the role of innovation in achieving the goals of the city's sustainable development, such as the growth of emerging industries, the innovative transformation of traditional industries and the further improvement of Beijing's industrial structure.
He hoped that all parties could take the expo as an opportunity to industrialize key scientific and technological achievements and cooperate in more fields.
