ZDG Ottawa International Incubation Center, an international business incubator jointly founded by Invest Ottawa and Zhongguancun Development Group(ZDG), was officially launched on April 16, 2014, according to the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee.
The two parties signed a cooperation agreement to establish the incubation hub in December 2012, aiming to develop Zhongguancun into a global science and technology innovation center.
The first four companies that have settled in there are Inano Medical Inc, Viscore Technology, GR Energy and JP Canshielding, concerning the industries of next generation information technology, new energy, new materials and high-end medical devices respectively.
ZDG is focusing on ground-breaking innovation technology programs during its cooperation with Invest Ottawa, a private-public partnership that identifies the city’s major economic development priorities, provides leadership and measures results. It is exploring the management and service mechanism for the programs, and has achieved an integrated system for the selection, incubation, investment and development of the programs.
The system includes angel investment funds, domestic parallel investment funds, incubation offices, enterprise mentors and professional consultants. The cooperation has set a good example for the group’s overseas strategy.
"ZDG Ottawa International Incubation Center will not only strengthen the cooperation between China and Canada’s high-tech industries, but also inject new vitality to the cities of Beijing and Ottawa,” said Zhang Junsai, China's ambassador to Canada.
"I hope the two countries can work together to deepen their bilateral relationship and boost their prosperity,” Zhang added.
