Maggie Cheung flops at music fests

Cheung, who was named Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in the film Clean (wherein she did a song performance), has been semi-retired from acting after 25 years so she could work more as a film composer.

Sina Weibo user "eargod" mocked Cheung's voice as "the legendary voice that's lower than base. This is shoegaze." User "mylittleairplane" supported the actress on the other hand. "A successful person, or someone who is admired, aside from their talents, what makes them unique is that they believe they can reach where they want to be. This kind of confidence and the unswerving attitude is more than enough to overshadow the doubts of the public."

The annual music festival was held at Beijing's Tongzhou Canal Park on May 3, 2014. It was subsequently cancelled after only two songs because of strong winds which had blown off the top of the stage. The organizers abruptly ended the festival out of safety concerns.
