A research institute of low carbon technology -- initiated by Hebei University, China Standardization and Technology Consortium for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction and Zhongguancun Next Generation Internet Industry Alliance - was officially launched at the university in North China’s Hebei province on April 22, 2014.
The institute focuses on low carbon development, energy conservation and emission reductions, as well as the construction of an ecological civilization. It will carry out studies on a group of subjects, including the policy and strategy of energy saving and climate change in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, new energy and energy-saving emission reduction technologies, and the construction of a low-carbon demonstration area.
In addition, it will fully integrate Zhongguancun’s industrial standards and technical advantages to explore green innovation standards, key technologies and solutions for energy conservation and low carbon, with the help of Zhongguancun enterprises and research institutions such as Lenovo Group, Tellhow Sci-tech Co and Zhongguancun Standard Innovation Service Center.
The institute, focusing on scientific research and training, will develop into a base for professionals and an industry incubator for the development of a low carbon economy and ecological civilization.
In addition, a number of Zhongguancun’s documents on smart energy were used by the institute as teaching materials to train professionals on energy saving and emission reduction and help to promote the coordinated development and environmental protection in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
