Beijing's Party chief Guo Jinlong held a symposium on Thursday, talking with business representatives from Zhongguancun and seeking advice for the park's reform and development, Beijing Daily reported.
A group of seven influential entrepreneurs, including founder of Lenovo Group Liu Chuanzhi, Li Yanhong (also known as Robin Li), chief executive officer of Baidu, China's top search engine and Lei Jun, founder and chief executive officer of Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, shared their experience and opinions, outlining the capital's strategic orientation, the construction of a sci-tech innovation hub and the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Guo hoped Zhongguancun could be a leader in sci-tech innovation rather than a follower or an also-ran, so as to implement the nation's innovation-driven development strategy.
He stressed Zhongguancun's role as a demonstration pilot in industrial transformation with its competitive edge –in innovation and urged the park to make innovative contributions to the coordinated development of the Bohai bay area.
He also encouraged the park to build a base for industrializing its sci-tech innovations with the help of Tianjin and Hebei province.
