The China Video Industry Association and Beijing E-Town Digital Display Industry Management Co Ltd jointly held a press conference on March 14 in Beijing - under the supervision of the Department of Electronics and Information of the Ministry of industry and Information Technology - to launch the China Cloud-based Audio-Visual Industry Association.
Initiated by more than 50 companies and organizations – including Haier, Samsung, Xiaomi, the Animation School of Communication in the University of China and the Animation School of the Beijing Film Academy – the association will coordinate multiple businesses in the audio-visual industry including digital content, cloud platforms, human-computer interaction devices, operation systems and e-commerce. It aims to facilitate technological progress, establish industry standards, enhance user experience – and, overall, stimulate a healthier and rapid growth of the industry.
The association also sets the first 4k standard for ultra-high definition devices in China, which is a fruit of the cooperation between the China Video Industry Association, China Electronics Standardization Institute and several companies in the industry.
China Video Industry Association used to mainly involve in hardware business. The launch of China Cloud-based Audio-Visual Industry Association is expected to integrate both the software and the hardware resources if the industry.
China's audio-visual industry has been growing fast in recent years due to technological progress and industry reconstruction. The value of the industry has crossed the threshold of 2 trillion yuan ($327 billion), with that of the visual sector reaching 500 billion yuan.
4k technology ("k" equaling 1024 pixels) enables display devices to have horizontal resolution as high as 4,096 pixels. It is the most sought-after technology in the television industry and expected to become the mainstream technology in the cloud-based audio-visual business in the near future.
