Beijing’s buses have poor WiFi coverage, a report by Beijing News said on Thursday.
Since March 2013, the Beijing Bus Transportation Group, which operates Beijing’s bus system, started to offer WiFi service to passengers, in cooperation with China Mobile.
As of October, more than 3,000 buses have wireless Internet access, allowing passengers with WiFi-enabled devices to connect to the Internet, the report said.
However, Beijing News found that among 10 selected buses in the urban area, only two could successfully offer wireless Internet access.
The WiFi device in some buses is still under testing or being installed, according to the publicity department of the Beijing Bus Transportation Group.
The problems with the WiFi service will be solved after the tests and installation are finished, the publicity department said.
