Beijing will play host to a World Seed Congress in its Fengtai district, on May 26, with displays of seeds from around the globe as a showcase of recent developments in the field, along with exchanges and discussions on cooperation.
Beijing has already received 881 varieties of seeds, Beijing Daily has reported, for tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cabbage, cauliflowers, and many other plants, covering 160 tomato types, 115 types of pepper, 40 of eggplant, and 20 of watermelon, which have been planted at a related exhibition base.
The World Seed Congress is arranged by the International Seed Federation and is the largest annual gathering of its kind in the world.
