Beijing’s Chaoyang district has 102 nursing homes with 1,230 beds, serving 22,000 person-times of senior citizens per month. Nearly 60 percent of the beds are occupied.
Chaoyang not only built more elderly care institutions, but also further improved the elderly care service network. There are 135 training schools for old people that 28,000 students study in. The district’s 640 cultural activity centers, 885 national fitness areas and 1,083 morning exercise places are free to the elderly.
Meanwhile, it also takes advantage of local medical resources. A group of healthcare institutions have opened green channels for 41 elderly care institutions in case senior citizens need transfer treatment.
