The city's deputy mayor asked the Qingfeng Steamed Stuffed Bun restaurant chain to maintain its quality and prices in the wake of its surging popularity.
President Xi Jinping visited a Beijing branch of the chain in late December. Cheng Hong, the deputy mayor responsible for business, said on Wednesday that Qingfeng should ensure that its steamed buns maintain their quality, and the chain should not raise its prices.
Cheng made the remarks when she met with Zhu Yuling, head of the State-owned Beijing Huatian Catering Group Corp, which owns the Qingfeng chain.
