This year's chunyun, the 40-day Spring Festival travel season, will start Jan 16. A total of 52.6 million passengers are expected to travel by rail, an increase of 4.91 million from last year. The city of Beijing will transport 24.4 million passengers.
The Beijing Railway Bureau will deliver 661 pairs of passenger trains, an increase of 50 pairs from last year. The transport capacity of the Beijing-Tianjin Railway will increase by 20 percent this year. Meanwhile, the bureau will provide 3,421 ticket windows and automatic ticket machines for passengers during the travel rush.
