The Chinese Center For Disease Control and Prevention has clarified that an academic paper from one of its top scientists was not plagiarized. Shao Yiming, a leading AIDS scientist, was found of using colleagues' data without their permission in an article on HIV transmission that was published on The Lancet's website on Dec 1. When the article appeared in print on Oct 5, it had an additional 19 authors. The center said using the data without permission was a violation of CDC regulations, but could not be deemed plagiarism.
