Foreign experts will help in Beijing's efforts to build a more eco-friendly and beautiful city in the future, according to a strategic cooperation framework agreement signed by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) and the Beijing Municipal People's Government on Oct. 11, 2013.
Under the framework agreement on importing "foreign brains" to support the Capital City's Blue Sky Action Plan, more high-caliber foreign experts will be recruited in the following five years to share their expertise and experience on urban environmental construction, precision management and development of an intelligent transport system.
These foreign experts will come from specific areas such as waste management, urban operations, environmental protection, public transport and urban administration enforcement, an official with the Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said.
Beijing unveiled a five-year "clean air action plan" in September, aiming to improve its air quality through measures including the slashing of coal consumption, promoting the use of clean energy and the reduction of production capacities with heavy pollution.
