The festival will have 200 performances of opera, dramatic works, ballet, and symphonic arrangements this autumn, running to November.
The opening ceremony included a group of original works to reflect the mood and spirit of people working in the Zhongguancun area, which is considered the nation's technological centerpiece.
There will be concerts given by the China National Symphony Orchestra and Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and more than 10 ballets from China and Russia to bring audiences the joy of art in different styles and traditions.
The Haidian district government has looked for various ways to create a vibrant setting for art fans and set up an alliance last year for the commercialization of cultural resources through business opportunities.
The district will also provide 3.6 million yuan ($588,000) to subsidize organizations and companies involved with performances and provide discount tickets for group bookings.
