Easier commute during rush hours for Line 13 passengers

Beijing’s Metro Line 13 adjusted the time interval between trains, during the evening peak, on Aug 5, cutting 20 seconds off the 3–minute wait, according to Beijing Daily.

And capacity was increased by 12.5 percent, which means that each transfer station on the line can handle 1,500 more passengers per hour.

This is the fifth time for the line to shorten time intervals, to meet growing demand over the past decade, during which time the daily passenger flow grew from 60,000 on average during the initial phase of operation in early 2003, to the current 730,000.

And nine stations along the line have added more doors and have improved their facilities, with a more advanced signal system and more stable power supply. The Beiyuan and Guangximen stops even have insulative floors and new doors for five other stations -- including Longze, Lishuiqiao, and Huoying -- are on their way.
