Beijing upgrades its taxi calling vehicle terminals

A batch of 100 taxis in Beijing upgraded their electronic taxi communication terminals recently. Now the drivers can speak to the would-be passengers directly and reach the appointed place quickly via an automatic navigation system, according to the Qihua Taxi Dispatch Center.

Currently, the Beijing electronic taxi communication terminal can only receive calls from the 96106 platform and via taxi calling software. Once the driver gets the order, he needs to call the passenger, which is inconvenient and unsafe.

After the upgrade of the terminal, the system will automatically call the passenger if the driver can serve them. It enables them to communicate with their customer directly.

The upgraded system will also save time by automatically pinpointing the passenger’s location and guiding the driver to that place with just a simple hit of the system’s “I want to be there” button.

Orders made by passengers at taxi-calling websites will also be sent to the terminal after the system has been upgraded. This is the first time that three-in-one electronic taxi calling terminals will be used in Beijing as well as China.

The service is free for the batch of 100 taxis from 12 taxi companies. Next, the upgrade terminal will be available to more than 10,000 taxis in the Qihua Taxi Dispatch Center. It will gradually spread to include more taxis as well.
