The Taiwan Carnival kicked off on Wednesday and will run to June 9 during the ninth China (Beijing) International Garden Expo where some special shows of cities have taken place, including Beijing, Nanjing and Hangzhou Week of the expo.

The carnival will offer performances with Taiwan ethnic features at Crape Myrtle Square (Ziwei Square) at 9:30 - 10:50 am and 2:00 - 3:20 pm every day during the five–day activity.

A Taiwan singing group, Orion, will perform at the event. They were the runner-up of the 2008 Star Boulevard CCTV talent show. The Driftwood Art Troupe, from Hualien, Taiwan, will present typical dances of Taiwan’s minority groups.

In addition to watching shows, visitors can also join in a dance called We Are a Family at the occasion.

The carnival was sponsored by Beijing Yuanboyuan Straits Culture Development Co.
