Contracts for thirteen science and technology cooperation projects were signed at the 16th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, bringing in funds of 14.25 billion yuan ($ 2.33 billion).
Among the 13 projects signed on May 23, nine were signed by Yizhuang, or Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, with a total project fund of 14.172 billion yuan.
The nine projects include Taichengxin Digital Assembly, Zhonghangzhi Unmanned Aircraft Research and Production Base, Sinopec New Energy Headquarters Base and Sinopec Catalyst Headquarters Base.
The aviation technology project signed by Yizhuang focused attention on the high-tech industry cluster district in the south of Beijing.
The Zhonghangzhi Unmanned Aircraft Research and Production Base project concerns flight control mechanism and aircraft development and production. The project’s gross income after three years of formal operation is expected to exceed one billion yuan ($ 163.3 million).
Once completed, the sales income of the Sinopec New Energy project is estimated to be no less than five billion yuan ($ 816.5 million).
The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area maintains an emphasis on attracting leading enterprises of high-end industries and has become a gathering area for strategic emerging industries.
Nearly 40 leading enterprises boast an output value above one billion yuan, and the Development Area plans to make ten industrial clusters with output value surpassing 50 billion yuan ($ 8.17 billion), improving the comprehensive strength of the high-tech manufacturing and strategic emerging industries.
In broad terms, the projects signed on May 23 have four characteristics.
First, there are many platform construction projects that promote industry development.
Nine projects involve industry development bases, Internet of things and educational training, accounting for 97.5 percent of the total contract value.
Second, there are many leading projects with a large value.
Among the signed projects, three specific projects involve sums exceeding one billion yuan, accounting for 85.6 percent of total contract value.
Third, there are many projects of central agencies in Beijing.
Six state-owned enterprises have signed five cooperation agreements with the Development Area and other companies, with a total contract value of 12.04 billion yuan ($ 1.97 billion).
Fourth, there are many strategic emerging industrial projects.
The fields include Internet of things, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new energy automobiles and biological medicine.
