Nokia’s Experience & Innovation Center in Beijing will unveil the Windows 8 operating system for the upgraded version of its Lumia 920 phone, according to an official from the Beijing Economic Technological Development Area (BDA).
The center, located in the BDA, was set up in 2012 and serves as a global leading research and development hub to support Nokia’s marketing strategy in China.
There will be three release conferences every day from May 22 to 24 at the upcoming China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, which is set to open on May 22 and will last until May 26.
A principal from Nokia said that Nokia has been devoting itself to bringing the latest and top mobile technologies to China. Nokia is trying to lead the trend in the mobile communication market by continuous innovation and development of its Lumia series smart devices.
By the end of last year, Nokia had integrated its innovation resources and enlarged its innovation center in Beijing. It named Beijing’s BDA as its global innovation hub.
The center has created the “Xingwang Model”, a unique approach that seamlessly links production and marketing. The model was named after the center’s location, Xingwang Industrial Park in the BDA.
Xingwang Industrial Park has attracted more than 20 components suppliers from both home and abroad, such as Sanyo, Ibiden and Granville Joint Hearing Semiconductor.
The industrial cluster of these companies, as well as the service innovation on custom procedures and logistics, provides a complete mobile communication industrial chain for Nokia. The Xingwang Model is also considered an innovation on layout in industrial functionality.
