During a visit to China, you would likely encounter tour guides with tales of ancient trees in temple courtyards. One of the finest examples must be the Jiulong PineTree (or Nine-Dragon Pine) found inside the JietaiTemple (Jietaisi), which is said to be more than 1,300 years old. Built during the Tang Dynasty, the temple is a tree lover's delight with the main complex liberally dotted with ancient pines; many have their own quirky names.
