Beijing offers a wide range of English-language magazines and newspapers, including Beijing This Month, Business Beijing, The Beijinger, City Weekend, Time Out, China Daily, Global Times and Beijing Today. These are generally available for free at most four- and five-star hotels, in Sanlitun and around the embassy-area bars and restaurants. It's also easy to get issues of popular imported English-language magazines, such as TIME, Newsweek, The Economist, Paris Match, Stern and other foreign-language publications from the bookshops of four- and five-star hotels.
Beijing's larger hotels, and some smaller ones, receive satellite TV broadcasts with dozens of channels from all around the world, including CNN, BBC, NHK from Japan, Star TV from Hong Kong, and HBO. CCTV News is a Beijing-based international news channel broadcasting in English. Its programming covers Chinese political, economic and domestic news plus information about Chinese culture, language and history.
