Hidden Meanings Irish Wave III, an art exhibition curated by Fion Gunn from Ireland in association with You Yanzi from China, kicked off at Beijing's Yan Chao Collection Gallery on March 9.
"Hidden Meanings" is a collaborative Irish/Chinese exhibition of 2D and 3D artworks, which looks at landscape in the context of culture and memory. In the global 21st century, landscape itself means many things and to increasing numbers of the world's inhabitants, it means the environment of cities, the backdrop of industry and the internalized map of a world we carry inside our heads. Our personal landscape is often the map of underground trains, the route of our buses, the view from a car and the passageways of apartment blocks.
The artists in this exhibition explore their own environments and investigate their significance on a personal and a social level.
The exhibition runs until 7 April. It's free of charge but guests need to make a reservation before visiting.
