Indian food is known for its spiciness and offers a delicious range of flavors. Every spice used, according to Indian tradition, carries a significant nutritional and medicinal property. Join chef Sridevi as she brings you on a culinary journey to explore Indian flavors and culture.

China through cinema
Culture Yard's Chinese Movie Night series introduces important directors and major trends in Chinese cinema from the last three decades, as well as its depiction of different aspects of modern and contemporary life in different parts of the Chinese-speaking world. (Chinese with English subtitles).
The movie on May 3 is Suzhou River, which is a tragic love story set in contemporary Shanghai with the built-up riverside architecture of factory buildings and abandoned warehouses along the Suzhou River as its background.

Cook Your Book
The Bookworm and The Hutong are teaming up to bring you Cook Your Book - the culinary workshop with a literary edge. One workshop. One book. Three different dishes.
The first installment in the series will feature a wildly popular cookbook from acclaimed British chef and restaurateur Jamie Oliver: Jamie's Kitchen. His delicious dishes always rely on seasonal, fresh ingredients, and his book offers more than 100 recipes packed with clear culinary advice and inspiration. The Hutong's top chef, Joel Shuchat, will guide you through three signature dishes from Jamie's Kitchen. The workshop includes the book that you'll take home to experiment more with.
Tickets available for purchase at The Bookworm. Cook Your Book will be held at The Hutong. May 29, 11 am - 1 pm. Cost: 500 yuan (for cooking class and cookbook)

Great Wall hiking
This hike combines the Yanqing Great Wall and High Tower routes into a challenging extended day hike in the mountains of Yanqing, way past touristy Badaling.
Hikers will follow an isolated section of the Great Wall that dates back to the Warring States period and also see a tower that was more recently constructed during the Ming Dynasty.
The day promises to be a challenging one as it will be long and take people over lots of uphill terrain. Hikers will leave at 7 am to avoid traffic on the Badaling Expressway.
This hike costs 350 yuan, which includes transportation, guides, water and snacks. Use the booking form at beijinghikers.com to reserve your place on the bus and to find out about the time and place of departure.

Kids summer theater camp
Beijing Playhouse Academy of Performing Arts announces open enrollment for the following children's theatre camp. Participants, age 6-14, will perform The Three Musketeers with acting, song and dance. Aspiring actors, singers, dancers and musicians are all welcome. Some English proficiency is required.
Camp lasts two weeks, Monday-Saturday, June 27, 2011-July 9, 2011, 9 am-4 pm, ending with a family performance. Everyone will be cast.
