Every worker in the industry should resist bad behavior and strengthen legal awareness to maintain a good social image, the China Film Association and China Television Artists Association said in a statement.
Self-discipline and social responsibility should be enhanced among public figures, said the statement, adding that anyone involved in violations will be harshly punished.
Chinese screenwriter Chen Wanning, better known by his pseudonym Ning Caishen, was detained by police for taking illegal drugs on Tuesday in an apartment in east Beijing.
Last month, renowned Chinese actor Huang Haibo was detained by police after being caught having sex with a prostitute in a hotel in Beijing.
