Community services help former drug addicts find jobs
Zhongshan city also strengthened the community services to track and help the released drug addicts not use drugs and find jobs to maintain their living.
408 communities witnessed 20 reusing drugs and four committing crimes again, accounting for less than 10 percent of the registered drug users who were released after having received compulsory detoxification in Shiqi district, Zhongshan city in 2015, according to Tan.
The low percentage of drug users retaking drugs in Zhongshan is a sharp contrast with a well-known average that 80 percent of drug addicts will retake drugs in three months, among them 80 percent will retake drugs in three days, sadi Wang Gaoxi, who is responsible for a local community drug rehabilitation center.
Thanks to the fruitful community services, there are only 1,954 cases in Shiqi district in the past eleven months, falling 14.92 percent year-on-year.
Besides, bordering near Hong Kong, Macau and some southeast Asian countries, Guangdong police also faces severe task of combating international drug-related cases.
The location is used by many international drug trafficking organizations to smuggle drugs, since "more than 100-kg drugs have been seized by Guangdong police from January to October, and most of them were said to be shipped overseas by logistics and ships", said Deng.
