BEIJING - A man suspected of illegally absorbing public deposits who fled to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2013 was repatriated to China on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The man surnamed Wang was on the list of the most wanted suspects in operation Fox Hunt 2015, a campaign to catch economic fugitives who have fled overseas.

Under the name of selling agricultural produce to the UAE, Wang allegedly collected public deposits worth more than 7 million yuan ($1.12 million) in Pizhou City of east China's Jiangsu Province from 2011 to 2013.

Wang fled to the UAE from Shanghai in March 2013. In October 2014, the People's Procuratorate of Pizhou issued a warrant for his arrest. At the same time, the ministry requested an investigation on Wang from the UAE police and asked Interpol to issue a Red Notice on Wang.

On Wednesday, Wang arrived in Beijing and was delivered to the authority in charge of his case.
