Currency dealer short-changed
An illegal foreign currency dealer was swindled by two foreigners who tried to convert counterfeit euros into RMB, reported The Beijing Times on Tuesday.
The foreigners exchanged 50,000 euros in 200-euro notes to the vendor for 369,000 ($60,253) yuan. After the deal, the con men left, saying they would withdraw more euros to exchange, but never came back.
When the currency dealer realized the euros were fake she told the police. The woman said she wanted the swindlers punished even if it meant she would lose all her money for illegal currency trading.
