'Chopstick baby' in Chongqing
A baby girl weighing 660 grams was born in Southwestern China's Chongqing municipality recently after a 23-week pregnancy, reported the Chongqing Times on Tuesday.
Last week, the baby's father was told by doctors that his pregnant wife had to terminate the pregnancy. The 24-year-old woman underwent the operation, but to everyone's surprise, the fetus survived. At birth, the infant had a head the size of a tennis ball and a body the length of a chopstick, earning the nickname of "chopstick baby".
Now six days old, the baby will be out of danger in two weeks, said the doctor.
