6. Huangshan Mountains, Anhui province Ancient Chinese poets and painters frequently visited the mountain range to capture its beauty in their works. Ctrip advises tourists to avoid peak visiting hours because an overflow of tourists may cause longer-than-expected stays at mountains.

7. Terracotta Warriors, Shaanxi province The warriors were built to protect the mausoleum of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), in his afterlife. The vivid sculptures have different hairstyles, clothes and expressions and vary in height in accordance with their positions.

8. Mount E’mei, Sichuan province As one of China’s four sacred mountains for Buddhists, E’mei is a popular place for both Buddhists and those who love nature. Watch out for the groups of monkeys who beg for food on the mountain.

Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town East, Guangdong province Splendid China amusement park offers miniatures of famous Chinese scenic spots for tourists and the Chinese Folk Culture Village gives a glimpse into traditional Chinese culture. At Window of the World theme park, there are numerous miniatures of landmarks and attractions from all over the world.
