Face to face interview with Sun Zhenjun — a versatile artist

Sun Zhenjun, art director of China (Sanmenxia) White Swan Wildlife International Photography Exhibition, has been engaging in journalism and photography work since his term of military service in the South China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy and on the Xisha Islands, or the Paracel Islands. He was twice awarded with a class three military merit. He is also the editor of Yellow River Times, a Sanmenxia-based media outlet, honorary photographer of Sansha city, president of Sanmenxia Photographers Association. Sun has also published 18 monographs, and his news work has won Chinese Journalism Prize.

Looking back at his nearly 40 years' of career in photography, Sun felt extremely touched, "Although it is filled with difficulties, it's well worth the efforts", he said.

At the age of about 17, Sun graduated from the local high school in the winter of 1980. When he studied at the sailor school, he tried to contribute to the broadcast station of the training base. Sun became a war reporter in the armed forces on the Xisha Islands in 1982, and then at the beginning of 1986, he retired from active military service and went to Luoyang radio and television bureau to work as a reporter. Eventually, he turned into a real journalist who could write good stories and take excellent photos.
