5. Strengthening the protection for agricultural product trademarks and geographical indications so as to guarantee the work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers. In 2009, AICs at all levels in China, by studying documents of China’s National People’s Congress, served for the work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers by promoting agricultural product trademark and geographical indications, extending their trademark service to countryside. By improving their working mechanism aiming to enrich farmers through trademark, they proactively guided the farmers to Henan AIC held a trademark working conference of provincial industrial and commercial systems in Xinyang which is also on-site meeting of Chinese geographical indications to enrich farmers in April 2009.

Apply geographical indications for their products so as to increase their incomes and converted the resources advantages into trademark advantages and market competition advantages.

Hebei, Henan, Zhejiang and the other provinces introduced on-site conferences to promote the March 26th, Tangshan Qianxi County, Heibei Province AIC held On-site Experience-Sharing Seminar of Hebei agricultural product trademarks and geographical indication. Experiences and practices as well as typical cases for farmers and farming companies, arousing them to implement the trademark strategy, especially applying for geographical indications.

Hainan AIC worked together with the Chenmai County to host a signing ceremony for a joint effort to enrich farmers in Chengmai by trademark strategy, wishing to invigorate local economy and enrich the local people with trademark and geographical indication, and finally to turn Chengmai to be the first county in Hainian as a model of enriching farmers Hainan AIC and Chengmai county government jointly held signing ceremony for Model counties of “trademark enriching farmers” project.
