Joint prevention and control of air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region

According to the municipal environmental protection bureau, to jointly combat environmental violations in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Beijing Tianjin and Hebei signed a cooperation agreement to establish a joint working mechanism for environmental law enforcement in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. And a joint meeting will be held every year.

From April 2017 to March 2018, the Ministry of Environmental Protection carried out a one-year monitoring campaign for the prevention and control of air pollution in the 28 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and the surrounding areas.

The inspection team transferred 1,257 problems to Tianjin, for which the city has already investigated, dealt with and rectified all of them according to relevant requirements.

This year, the city will focus on carrying out nine major campaigns, including the comprehensive treatment of air pollution in key regions, environmental protection for centralized drinking water sources and so forth.

Three government sectors advocate green travel

The municipal environmental protection bureau, the municipal transport commission and the municipal administration bureau jointly issued the "Work Plan for Implementing and Promoting Green Travel".

According to the initiative, party members in party and government organs as well as public institutions should take the lead in putting the concept of green travel into practice. Meanwhile, themes such as "Energy Conservation Week, Public Transportation Week, Low-Carbon day, Car Free Day and Environmental Day" should be combined with the concept.

The party members should reduce the frequency of using motor vehicles should practice the "135" green travel mode, namely walking 1 kilometer, riding for 3 kilometers, and taking public transport for 5 kilometers.

Meanwhile, they should change their driving habits and extinguish the engine when parking for more than 3 minutes without affecting normal driving. The party members are also encouraged to buy energy-saving and environmentally friendly automobiles to reduce the emission of vehicle exhaust.
