Tianjin to restore four wetland nature reserves
| Updated: 2018-06-06 16:52:00 | (chinadaily.com.cn) |

248 million cubic meters water will be diverted into Tianjin’s four major wetland nature reserves: Qilihai National Wetland Park, Beidagang Wetland Nature Reserve, Dahuangbao Wetland Nature Reserve and Tuanbo Birds Nature Reserve.

This move is in a bid to repair the ecosystem and solve problems such as wetland loss, ecological function degradation, and biodiversity reduction.

According to the wetland rejuvenation and restoration plan, Qilihai and Dahuangbao wetlands will be replenished by water from Chaobaixin River, North Canal and Qinglongwan River; Beidagang wetland from the city’s southern water circulation, the east route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, and the Qingjinghuang Drainage Channel; Tuanbo Birds wetland from Haihe and upper Daqing River.

Among the total 248 million cubic meters of water supply, Qilihai will be filled with 80 million cubic meters; Beidagang 18 million cubic meters; Tuanbo Birds 30-40 million cubic meters.

This year, Beidagang wetland has replenished 8 million cubic meters; Tuanbo Birds 13 million cubic meters; Dahuangbao wetland 37 million cubic meters; Qilihai 35 million cubic meters.
