Tianjin releases latest introduction pamphlet

Tianjin Basic Facts 2018 was published by China Intercontinental Press in early May and became the most popular Tianjin introduction pamphlet at the recently concluded World Intelligence Congress held in the city from May 16 to18.

The book has ten chapters, namely history and geography, ecological city, smart city, coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, sustainable development, urban construction, opening-up and exchanges, public services, culture and sports and tourism, providing upgraded information and graphics in well polished English.

The state-of-the-art information will offer foreign readers deep insight into Tianjin and a wide view of its development and culture.

Blessed with a number of strategic opportunities, namely the coordinated Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development, the construction of the free trade pilot zone, the construction of independent innovation demonstration zone, Belt and Road Initiative, and the opening up of Binhai New Area, Tianjin has become more prominent in the region.

Its urban vitality and competitiveness have been further inspired.

Tianjin will give full play to its advantages in location, ports and industrial clusters, focus on deepening the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cooperation, serve China’s new strategy of opening-up to the outside world, and strive to become a new fulcrum of the Belt and Road Initiative and a hub of global resource allocation.

In the past five years, Tianjin has been unprecedented in its resolution and efforts to harness environmental pollution.

The speed of environmental improvement has been the highest in history. The number of days with standard air quality has increased from 145 in 2013 to 209 in 2017, while the average annual PM2.5 concentration dropped by 35.4%.

By the end of 2017, the forest greening rate in the city hit above 28%, and the green coverage rate in the built-up area exceeded 40%.

By the end of 2017, the city’s Internet outlet bandwidth reached 9.7 TB, and with the capacity of optical fiber access to 10.018 million households, Tianjin is the first in China to achieve full coverage of optical network. T

The total number of fourth-generation (4G) mobile communication base stations reached 31,070, achieving full coverage in the urban area. Wireless public LANs in large public places are free to the public, with more than 20,000 access points.

By 2020, Tianjin will further enhance the level of intelligence in the city, deepen the innovation, development and application of information technology in urban governance, people’s livelihood services, smart economy, information security, and other areas.

A "Smart Tianjin" will take shape, featuring intelligence, integration, benefit and security. Tianjin will continue to play a leading role in China in urban informatization.

By 2025, the construction of a "Smart Tianjin" will be basically completed.

With four basic platforms: perception, support, service and management, the smart city will be characterized by convenient life, high-end economy, efficient government procedures, and refined governance.

Tianjin will be among the most advanced in the world in terms of informatization, and become a domestically leading and globally top-class benchmark for smart city construction.
