The International School of Tianjin launched a career fair on April 18.
The event was aimed at providing secondary students and parents with a live and exciting opportunity to listen and learn from the experience and expertise of established professionals and experts.
"Many students don't know the insights of different careers, so we hoped the event would expose the children to a wide range of professionals," said Steve Moody, director of the school with 24-year of history.
"Students can find some professionals begin their career with the army but finally end it as an airplane engineer. This experience will show them that life and career may not develop in a direct path," he said.
Students are inspired to gain knowledge and insight about what kind of education and skills are required to pursue excellence in a variety of professions and careers.
During the event, guest speakers shared with students an outline of the pathways available to those who may wish to enter their professional area and answered their questions.
Mu Hynn Kim, an 11th-grade South Korean student, said he is keenly interested in music and asked questions of He Wei, artistic director and dean at the Tijin Julliard School, about how to develop a love of music into a career path.
Hugo Montanari, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, exchanged his ideas with Laila Shaqqo, a 6th-grade US student, who wanted to explore the life of hospitality professionals who often change their workplace from one country to another.
Javier Ruiz Bonilla, a soccer coach from Belgium who joined the Tianjin Quanjian Football Club for three months, said he encouraged sports fans at the school. "Attitude multiplied by knowledge and ability is the winning card to success."
