Jin Yongwei: Full coverage for all Tianjin's book-reading locations

Jin Yongwei is a CPPCC member and the director of the Tianjin Bureau of Culture, Radio, and Television. He cares about literary and artistic creation in Tianjin, the measure and achievements of public cultural services and the laws pertaining to them.

In recent years, the government has launched several laws about culture and people's livelihoods, all of which make it easier for residents to enjoy achievements in the areas of culture and quality of life.

Jin pointed out that there are still unbalanced developments in the cultural area, adding that the cultural administration should do more to meet the demands of the mind.

2018 is the fortieth year of China's reform and opening-up policy. Tianjin will create a series of artistic works about those years. The Tianjin Song and Dance Theatre will create a modern musical drama The story of the Spring; Tianjin will hold a concert named The symphony of the sea and city, and various troupes in the city will also create related shows. Exhibitions of the achievements in the past 40 years will be held.

Jin mentioned the importance of the intangible cultural heritages and that Tianjin's inheritors teach students the applicable technologies. Tianjin will soon formulate protection regulations about intangible cultural heritages.

To address the concerns of residents about convenient locations for libraries, the administration will build more libraries in remote areas and extend their opening times. Now, Tianjin's library is open 73.5 hours per week; the hours will be extended and staggered to provide better service.

Tianjin will also build 100 sub-libraries in 16 districts, and 900 service points for public libraries in 900 communities. Tianjin is trying to achieve 100 percent coverage of book service points within three years.
