Staff members at the Beijing Railway Bureau’s Tianjin Shipping Center get used to dealing with cargo through sea-rail transportation every day.
“Compared to traditional distribution methods, sea-rail combined transportation realizes door-to-door and one-stop logistics and reduces transportation costs,” said Pang Lei of the Zhaohua Logistics Company.
“In addition, the cargo can be transferred directly to the railways and be stored at the exclusive container yards, which reduces the overall costs of distribution,” added Pang.
Since the first container rail line started to carry cargo between the Tianjin Port and Shijiazhuang South Station on January 19, the combined transportation method has been further improved. The Tianjin Shipping Center launched eight container train lines under the combined transportation method departing from Baotou, Yinchuan South Station, Xinzhu, Lvhua, Zhangjiakou South Station, Zaoyuanpu, Shihezi, Taiyuan West Station.
The cargo shipped through sea-rail transportation is increasing. Tianjin Port has transported 80,994 standard containers through sea-rail combined transportation. The port moves around 286 standard containers per day, which increased 206.8 percent year to year.
The container railway lines from Tianjin Port to Pingluo and Wubei are under construction. The lines will improve the integration of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei and the Northwestern part of the country.
