The construction of the overpass crossing the Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway Road was completed on August 25.

Located in Ji county of Tianjin, the project is being built by the Sixth Engineering Bureau of the China Railway Group Tianjin Company. It includes a six-lane highway crossing Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway Road and the Xibang Road. As an important part of the Beijing-Qinhuangdao Highway, the 994-meter-long overpass had to cross a major railway without disrupting it.

The Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway is the country’s first electrified coal line capable of heavy load trains. The line handles one train every eight minutes.

One of the greatest difficulties was safety issues. A special safety and quality monitoring team was established at the beginning of construction.

The construction company enacted a detailed plan of construction techniques and deadlines. Construction of the major body of the bridge and pillars was completed between December and July. The entire project was completed on August 25.

As a major project connecting North China and Northeast China, the Beijing-Qinhuangdao Highway will further shorten the travel time between Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei And enhance Tianjin’s position as a transportation pivot.
