Tianjin Port develops combined transportation

Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission and Beijing Railway Administration signed a strategic cooperation agreement to further promote integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province and to implement the "one belt one road".

Both sides will positively utilize the advantages the Tianjin Free Trade Zone (FTZ) brings. It will establish the city as the starting point of the Eurasian Continental Bridge, a major pitch point of the economic path connecting China, Mongolia, and Russia, and a strategic pivot for maritime cooperation.

Tianjin will also help to drive the construction of the sea-railway. According to the agreement it's to be a combined transportation, connecting Northeast Asia and opening up West Asia. In addition, the integrated transportation system of the Tianjin Port is going to be further improved by constructing railways to the west and north, completing the current railway system connecting the port and other domestic ports, dry ports, and harbor surroundings.

The railway transportation of the Tianjin Port will take on more responsibility, increasing its distribution of cargo from the port to ten million tons.

Furthermore, Beijing and the Tianjin Port will build a cooperation coordinating mechanism and will together construct a service platform for sea-railway, air-railway, and highway-railway combined transportation, which also realizes the exchange of digital data and the coordinated development of integrated transportation.

The infrastructure construction is going to grow rapidly which includes promoting the seamless connection of sea-rail combined transportation by researching on expanding special railway to the end of wharf.

Moreover, the Tianjin Port will improve the function of dry ports and inland ports and will drive the development of the railroad logistics by implementing innovative ideas in policy support, logistic services, and price mechanism.

Efforts will also be put into developing innovative products, such as the express trains in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, the trains crossing the border of China and the Europe, the trains connecting the Tianjin Port with dry ports, and trains and shuttles carrying grains.

In addition, train stations in cities such as Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, and Dezhou, will establish terminal buildings of Tianjin airport to boost air-railway combined transportation.

Wu Dai, the director of Tianjin Transportation Commission remarked that Tianjin is going to rapidly construct the infrastructure of trains that cross border, push forward the development of railway container center, and the launch of several new railway lines.

Wu added that the city will provide more convenience for the integrated transportation of Tianjin Port including lowering the freight charge of trains crossing borders and port charge, extending the container free using period, and launching a united e-commerce platform.

Furthermore, the city is going to drive the maritime strategic cooperation, which connects Tianjin to Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and the Europe through three seaways. The port will also form strategic pivots through investment and cooperation with harbors along the seaways.
