The Hangzhou Municipal Quality Monitor Bureau will release the first Food Security Index next month, covering 23 processed food and vegetable categories.
The security index is expected to show the public a whole picture of the overall food security level of the Hangzhou market, with food security ratings of “Secure”, “Inadequately Secure” and “Insecure”, indicated in green, yellow and red respectively.
A sample inspection is performed on three to four categories each month. The Food Security Index is calculated based on sample inspection results and weight assigned to each category, considering factors such as total consumption and citizen opinion.
