2010 is the year of tiger according to Chinese calendar. Tiger is a symbol of courage in China and people born in the tiger year are deemed as rebellious, powerful, vigorous, quick-tempered and generous.

Many activities are held in Hangzhou to celebrate the year of Titer. On the second day of Chinese New Year, a parade, made up of 5 tigers, appeared at the Southern Song Dynasty Street to spread happiness to people.

Despite an unexpected heavy snow hit Hangzhou before the Chinese New Year, Hangzhou has received 4.79 million tourists for the seven day holiday, seeing 13.56% increase from that of last year, according to statistics from an authority source.
