The southward express train No Y202 pulled out the Jiayugan station on April 5 with 702 elderly passengers on board eager to get their spring travel underway.
However, children need not worry about their elderly parents’ health on their travels, because the train specialized to cater for the aged and provides a dedicated service to suit their every need.
The train, managed by Lantie International Travel Service and Gansu Xiyanghong Travel Agency, has a treatment room with all kinds of medicine, as well as presbyopic glasses, sewing kits and chess.
The train is also equipped with a mini supermarket and Muslim restaurant. Other facilities include a left luggage service so that passengers need only to carry their valuables during the sightseeing.
The express train for the aged is one of 20 specialized tourism trains. It has 14 carriages, including nine hard sleepers, three soft sleepers, as well as a dining and boarding carriage.
The train is run in April to avoid the peak travel season in May, allowing elderly passengers from Northwest China the chance to experience spring in South China.
